From now until late May of this year, each Council Member has the opportunity to write and submit a Memo about their ideas towards the budget. Let our council members and the Mayor know you support fully funding our libraries. We are not sure if the public is aware that our libraries are facing a threat of losing additional days and hours. Last year the Evergreen community was receptive to our postcard campaign and many went away with a contact sheet so they could make a call, send an Email, send a letter, or share with friends and family. We will again be starting the postcard campaign at Evergreen shortly.
As last year, we will have a table outside the library with copies of the budget proposal, our yellow postcards addressed to city hall and contact information for the city council. The postcards will allow you to voice your opinion. Last year, we delivered almost 1,000 cards to Rose Herrera. This year our goal is 2,000 cards. We will be delivering your postcards not only to Rose Herrera, but also hope to bring some to the Mayor at the City Council meeting.
We will need help manning the table and putting kits together. if you would like to help please contact: Diana Poteete at dpoteete@pacbell.net. Please take the time to send an email to the Council members especially, Ash Kalra (district2@sanjoseca .gov), Rose Herrera (rose.herrera@ sanjoseca.gov), Madison Nguyen (district7@sanjoseca .gov), and Nancy Pyle (district10@sanjosec a.gov). The contact information for the mayor and all city council members: by mail: 200 E. Santa Clara St., San Jose, CA 95113
